Knowledge Demon, The Insatiable, Doormaker, and Test Subject #C10 are widely considered the hardest bosses. The Insatiable has an instant-death timer, Knowledge Demon forces permanent debuffs with self-healing, and Test Subject has 600 total HP across three phases.
The Insatiable has a Sandpit counter starting at 4 that decreases each turn — reaching 0 means instant death. Always play Frantic Escape cards when drawn to extend the timer. Keep your deck around 20 cards to reliably draw them. This is a pure DPS race: front-load all damage and potions.
Poison works within each phase but is cleansed between phase transitions. Since the Test Subject has three phases (100, 200, 300 HP), poison resets twice. Burst damage and scaling powers (Demon Form, Sovereign Blade) are more effective overall.
